Mariama Torruella

Executive Director (Interim)

Mariama (Madi) Torruella is the interim Executive Director of Recover International, and helped guide the founding of the organization with the GW Murphy family. Madi is an operations, project, and strategy leader with over 25 years’ experience in the nonprofit sector. Through her own nonprofit organization, Breaking Boundaries, Madi provides independent consulting services for nonprofit strategy and operations to increase mission impact, organizational effectiveness, and financial sustainability. She earned a Master of Music in Music Composition (Chicago College of Performing Arts) and a Master of Arts in Training and Development from Roosevelt University. As a certified Six Sigma/Lean yellow belt, Madi places value at the core of all process improvement work and people at the top. Her work in the performing arts includes singing, writing/arranging, and admin/operations. She is also a 300-hour certified yoga teacher. Throughout her career, Madi has used her voice to advocate for people, spur on creative ideas, seek a higher level of performance, and turn visions into reality. Madi believes that we can all communicate and collaborate to create the world we dream of living in.
